"An inconvenient truth" "These idiots have about a generation remaining before they find themselves the last branch on their family tree, at which time the future of the human race will literally belong to the vegans, raw foodies and natural health consumers who consciously choose to avoid GM foods. It's a whole new wave of natural selection taking place. The evolution of the human race is about to make a major shift in favor of those who don't poison themselves with toxic foods..." Full Story Well, seems the author has totally failed to understand both the nature of the research taken place and the extent of the "GM threat" (assuming that it's real). Complex facts being presented in a simplistic way has turned to become a plague of our era, yet a healing for lazy minds who seek a one liner answer for the whole problems in the universe. If the author wishes to save his offspring from extinction, he has to give a second thought about some issues further to "consciously avoiding GM food". Some examples: Step 1. GM foods are anonymously spread on store shelves (see this). A proper labeling regulation together with food firms' honesty is a prerequisite to recognize and "consciously" select non-GM stuff, otherwise the consciousness will be of no use. Step 2. Even in the presence of labeling regulations, errors should not be underestimated. Whenever you bite your "GMO-free" labeled sandwich, keep an eye on this. It can challenge the reliability of a conscious selection of what you eat. Step 3. After tightening the quality control stage and eliminating the anxiety of human errors, your concern will shift toward your wallet, since the prices are no longer the same as before (see this); and the "natural selection" will be replaced with "economical selection", and push us back to square one: Be healthy or starve (Check this one deeply, the warning about castrating effects is not that new!) . Since the technical report of the study the author is referring to is available in the research institute website, I presume that the author has seen the report, but either has not fully understood the results or not interested in technical details; and thus will not trouble myself with discussing about how naive is to think eating organic food will save you from extinction; and wish him sweet dreams. PS: When reviewing my above post, I felt that it may give the impression that I'm a GM-fan. I have tried to emphasize that the author's oversimplifying approach is the major mistake and not his ideas about food safety. Any possible misleading in this regard is unintentional and mainly due to my incomplete verbal skill. PS again: A friend once warned me that telling people that they are wrong -even if they really are- is considered antisocial and rude. That made me oversensitive and conservative about criticizing others, but when it comes to someone who authorizes himself to describe GM-eating people as "idiots" (without checking if they eat GM by choice or otherwise), I will disqualify him for such a respect.
