Full Story To me, this is not the big surprise. The shock of nine-eleven brought this fact to many American's attention that what they know about Islam is little; and to understand why some muslims may turn this fierce, it is crucial to know them very well first. Since then, I have heard a lot in news that US universities have dramatically increased fundings for Middle-East related subjects, therefore this course is very likely to be one of them (Obviously oriental nations already have sufficient motive to learn about west, no need to encourage them in return) What really surprises me is, what on earth is going on in Iran, that helps an American couple reside right in the most religious town in Iran without raising any conspiracy theory (not even a mention in Iranian press), while some non-Americans cannot move a muscle in Iran without being highlighted by dozens of dailies? It is quite humorous that while in other Middle East countries, ordinary people are severly anti American in spite of their states, Iran is exactly vice versa.
