Just a quick drop...
Home Sweet Home

Blowing horn is still the most versatile tool while driving: It's used for greeting, cussing, opening a way in the traffic, and also passing the yellow light at crossroads. "S" shaped drivings has increased dramatically thanks to brand new cars, (even motocyclers do that in highways, even without helmet) some kind of index for the decrease in average population age. With such driving standard, the pollution level and car accident frequency was miraculous.

I had to be so careful with sending greetings with my thumb. I made the mistake at the first few days, but luckily no one noticed that (Non-Iranians may not know that showing thumb is extremely offensive, as if you show your middle finger)

The combination of western fashion and traditional restriction has resulted in something ridiculously flashy instead of attractive. Had the state stayed more flexible with the fashion, we could have a very elegant style in ladies dress, without severe contradiction to religious regulations. I wish I could convince people that their ideals will not be found in western lifestyle. Even if I'm wrong, it doesn't make difference: nobody listens.

Although Tehran's Underground Train is making a remarkable contribution to transport, it's still behind the demands. An ideal place for pickpockets...

Beyond all, public participation in aiding victims of the quake zone was something to pay attention to. (see this) The last time when I found people this much united (however quite different in appearance) was when Iran was qualified for FIFA France 98 WorldCup. It shows how easy people get concentrated on an aim, and therefore how important it is to keep such a self-motivated nation satisfied to avoid them being triggered by "the others"

The country's overview is quite different when you go inside, no wonder the Iranian analysts -especially those who have not visited Iran recently- make quite unrealistic comments about it. Even following news from Iranian press is not a complete reflect of what's going on inside: The real news can merely be seen, heard, and sensed in the ground zero. Humorously, Iranians' viewpoint about what's going on outside suffers from the same problem. This selective flow of information must be cracked some day...
